SUMMARY
The Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Services (VPEMSS) provides executive leadership, strategic planning, and oversight for enrollment management and student support services at Kansas City Kansas Community College. As a member of the President’s Cabinet, the VPEMSS plays a key role in developing and implementing strategies that promote student success, engagement, and growth within a supportive environment.

The VPEMSS leads efforts to optimize enrollment processes, enhance student persistence, and foster academic achievement and personal development for a broad student population. This role collaborates with Academic Affairs, Faculty Senate, Staff Senate, Student Government, and other stakeholders to streamline enrollment and support student development. Emphasizing data-driven decision-making, the position focuses on best practices to improve recruitment, admissions, enrollment, and retention initiatives.

The VPEMSS oversees planning, budgeting, and operations for departments such as Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Success Center, Career Services, Student Services, and Athletics, ensuring alignment with KCKCC’s mission and strategic priorities, and supporting students from enrollment to graduation.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Strategic Leadership and Institutional Policy Development

  • Serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet, offering strategic leadership in recruitment, admissions, student engagement, retention, completion, student services, athletics and residence life.
  • Develop, execute, and assess the college’s comprehensive Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) plan, leveraging predictive analytics, technology, and best practices to drive student recruitment, engagement, persistence, and completion.
  • Provide strategic direction for divisional operations, ensuring alignment with institutional mission, priorities, and goals.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA), deans, faculty, and college leaders to develop academic and co-curricular programs that foster enrollment growth and student success.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver integrated student support services addressing students’ academic, social, and career needs.
  • Design and implement holistic enrollment strategies that unify recruitment, retention, and completion efforts for traditional, adult, and dual/concurrent enrolled student populations.
  • Analyze market trends and demographic data to identify growth opportunities and inform enrollment and marketing strategies.
  • Forge partnerships with K-12 schools, four-year institutions, community organizations, and employers to support strategic enrollment initiatives and enhance student opportunities.
  • Ensure a seamless and supportive student experience from initial inquiry through graduation.

Enrollment Management and Student Success

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and assessment of enrollment strategies, student engagement initiatives, and student services programs.
  • Provide the vision and leadership to division groups and teams to develop, implement, and measure the success of ongoing co-curricular assessment initiatives.
  • Lead efforts to build recruitment pipelines, implement marketing strategies, and increase student engagement.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Institutional Image to develop and implement an integrated marketing and communications plan.
  • Partner with Institutional Effectiveness to evaluate and enhance student recruitment, orientation, advising, enrollment, and retention initiatives.
  • Work with Financial Aid and the college’s Foundation to develop and advance a student scholarship strategy that aligns with KCKCC enrollment goals and initiatives.

Operational Oversight and Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate policies, procedures, and practices that support efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of programs and services across the division.
  • Ensure compliance with college policies, Higher Learning Commission accreditation requirements and federal, state, and local regulations.

Data-Informed Decision-Making and Technology Adoption

  • Use data to assess the effectiveness of enrollment strategies and student success initiatives.
  • Lead the development of data-driven strategies to improve student outcomes, including persistence, completion, transfer, and employment.
  • Develop and implement technology-based solutions to enhance student services and engagement.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of enrollment and student service initiatives and monitor student enrollment, retention, and completion rates.

Budget and Resource Management

  • Develop and manage the division’s budget to align with the college’s strategic priorities.
  • Plan for long-term resource needs, including operating expenses, capital projects, and staff development.
  • Seek and manage external funding opportunities to support division initiatives.
  • Maximize operational efficiency through technology adoption, process improvement, and talent development.

Collaboration and Relationship Building

  • Supervise, mentor, and support a team of student services and enrollment management professionals.
  • Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Workforce Innovation, Global Programming, Adult and Continuing Education and other key college stakeholders to drive enrollment growth and support student achievement.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, teamwork, and professional development within the division.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to foster a welcoming environment for diverse students, staff, faculty, and community members.

Enrollment and Student Success Strategy

  • Proven experience in developing and executing enrollment strategies, student success initiatives, and co-curricular assessment, with a focus on data analysis and data-informed strategic planning.

Collaboration and Leadership

  • Collaborative experience working with executive leadership teams and colleagues across multiple sites to promote student engagement, retention, and completion.

Commitment to Community College Mission

  • Knowledge and commitment to the community college mission, teaching, learning, and student success, with a focus on current trends and best practices in enrollment management.

Technical Proficiency

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, integrated student information systems, and awareness of innovative practices in higher education enrollment management.

Student and Community Engagement

  • Experience working with varied student populations and communities, demonstrating the ability to lead initiatives that enhance enrollment, retention, and satisfaction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s or higher degree from an accredited institution.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in enrollment management and student services within higher education, preferably at a community college.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and conflict resolution.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctoral degree in higher education administration, student affairs, educational leadership, or a related field.
  • Seven (7) years of progressive leadership experience in enrollment management and/or student services, preferably in a community college setting, with a preference for candidates experienced in both areas.
  • Proven success in developing and implementing strategic enrollment management, student retention, and completion plans, with a focus on data-driven decision-making and best practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership in co-curricular assessment, including team support and integration of multiple student information systems to support retention and growth.
  • Experience in recruiting and enrolling a broad student population, with a proven track record of meeting enrollment/revenue goals.
  • Executive leadership experience in higher education, with a focus on serving students and employees from diverse academic, social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of enrollment strategies and adult development.
  • Multilingual (Spanish preferred).

WORKING CONDITIONS

WORK SCHEDULE
40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.
