Cataloging Librarian
Job Description : Original and copy cataloging of materials, adapting online records according to guidelines in all subject areas and languages considering the rules of Anglo-American Cataloging Rules, Library of Congress subject heading policies, Dewey Decimal Classification, Arabic subject headings, MARC21 and advanced specialized backgrounds. Will ensure all materials can be retrieved conveniently using standardized methods and categorize library materials, including books, CDs, films, newspapers or other nonconforming items. Must possess a good knowledge of basic library methods, techniques and procedures, be detail oriented, able to organize materials for processing according to highest priority and complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
Job Requirements : ALA / MLS with at least some knowledge and experience of cataloging library materials desired. Requires strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills including the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse work environment. Excellent keying, written and verbal skills required. Requires computer and software capabilities including the use of an ILS such as SirsiDynix.
Physical attributes of standing, kneeling, walking and lifting up to 35 pounds as work activity, programming, set-up and daily activities require is a common condition of this classification.
Salary : $59,424.48-$78,863.76
