The Director of Marketing will lead Kansas City Live! (“KCL”)’s marketing team and partner with key Power & Light District (“District”) stakeholders to develop and execute strategic marketing plans that drive revenue, increase visibility and enhance guest engagement. The ideal candidate is a results-oriented, data-driven, creative leader with a passion for live entertainment, food & beverage marketing, and audience engagement.
- Collaborate with District leadership, including KCL’s Director of Operations, to develop an annual calendar of events and initiatives that drive traffic and increase sales.
- Develop and execute strategic marketing campaigns to increase ticket sales for entertainment events such as concerts and festivals.
- Oversee development of marketing initiatives for Live!-operated food & beverage concepts within KCL, which include nightlife, fine and casual dining.
- Assist marketing team and concept-level operators in the development of promotions, activations, special events, and partnerships that drive revenue and enhance the overall guest experience.
- Manage marketing budgets, allocating resources effectively to maximize impact.
- Oversee and manage the creation of promotional assets, including graphics, videos, and photography, collaborating with designers and content creators.
- Oversee and manage email marketing programs, social media, and website presence for KCL, including Live!-operated food & beverage concepts.
- Monitor marketing campaign performance, providing data-driven recommendations to enhance ROI and audience growth.
- Ensure KCL’s marketing team and operations stakeholders are aligned on marketing and promotional strategies, AORs, and KPIs.
- Facilitate cross functional alignment between marketing, operations, hospitality, talent, and entertainment teams regarding AORs and KPIs for all entertainment events.
- Leverage District marketing assets to support KCL! and Live!-operated food & beverage concepts.
- Oversee lead generation efforts.
- Collaborate with partnership teams to create and manage promotional content and event activations for partners and sponsors.
- Build relationships with key partners, community stakeholders, and local teams to cross-promote the District & KCL.
- Assist with press releases and media events / opportunities as needed
Qualifications & Skills:
- 8 years of experience in event marketing, entertainment, hospitality, or venue marketing.
- Strong knowledge of media buying, influencer marketing, digital and social media strategy.
- Experience marketing restaurants, bars, or nightlife concepts preferred.
- Ability to analyze marketing data, ticket sales, and consumer trends to optimize campaigns.
- Excellent leadership and project management skills.
- Passion for live entertainment, hospitality, and creating unforgettable experiences.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Able to problem solve, multi-task, and balance competing priorities.
- Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary to support the needs of the business.
