Purpose Statement
The job of Warehouse Worker is to perform an array of functions that may include receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, or managing, organizing, retrieving stock in the warehouse and assisting with furniture moves request throughout the District.
Essential Functions :
- Assist shipping and receiving unloading trucks and checking in merchandise
- Prepares orders by processing requests and supply orders; pulling materials; packing boxes; placing orders in delivery area
- Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to organizational standards
- Open bales, crates and other containers
- Maintains inventory controls by collecting stock location orders, printing request, recording amounts of materials or items received or distributed through a computer. May also assist in counting of physical inventory
- Maintains safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat; Sweep, dust and mop.
- Always organize warehouse and work area for orderliness
- Wear the proper safety equipment
- Lift, carry, and load furniture weighing up to 100 pounds, onto box trucks for transport to and from locations, including up and down stairs.
- Provide problem-solving solutions when necessary.
- Demonstrate the ability to protect all furniture from damage through established best practices.
- Pack and unpack items in an organized and efficient manner.

Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands : occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and / or pulling, some climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and / or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 20% sitting, 45% walking, and 35% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and / or illness.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
Length of work year : 260 days; 7.5hrs / day, 5 days / week
