The R&D Scientist III role is a professional position responsible for performing moderately complex to complex analytical and/or engineering functions on assigned projects of a general nature and limited scope by applying standard mathematical, scientific, and/or engineering technologies.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepares evaluation reports and analyzes discrepancies to execute solutions by partnering with technical experts.
- Independently prepares product or project definitions, and/or lab testing methods.
- Partners with internal and external stakeholders to assist in resolving moderately complex to complex design, development, production, and acceptance issues.
- Develops procedures to implement proper quality controls.
- Performs moderately complex to complex tests/experiments to analyze and correct problems. Independently develops and documents improvements/innovations.
- Provides mentorship, advice, and insight to other employees & other engineers/scientists to ensure project and product compliance.
- Stays current with relevant emerging technology and business trends.
- 4 or more years of relevant experience in analytical, scientific, or related technical activities
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Physics or equivalent
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
- Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business
- United States Citizenship
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
- Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
- Well versed in various analytical chemistry methods
- Experience working in a tightly regulated analytical lab
- History of creating and implementing analytical methods that align with GLP/GMP methods
- Execute laboratory functions related to meeting ISO 17025 requirements
- Establishing traceable standards that align with requirements
- Experience utilizing control charts to establish instrument
- Addressing method deviation from requirements
- Ability to communicate technical requirements to staff of varying backgrounds
- Experience working with quality departments to develop and deploy updated working requirements
- History of staff qualification and training audits to review for compliance alignment
- A broad knowledge of manufacturing or quality processes and techniques.
- Ability to work without supervision, with latitude for independent action and decision making.
- Some positions within this classification may require unique scientific knowledge or coursework related to a particular discipline.
