Officer of Nutrition and Compliance
Salary Range: $85,000 - $133,454

Position Summary:
The Officer of Nutrition and Compliance champions a student-centered food service program in compliance with DESE regulations, USDA guidelines and district policies. This role may involve inspections, audits, policy updates, training, and serves as the District advocate/representative on critical areas of interest.
What You'll Be Doing: (Responsibilities)
- Leadership & Team Management:
- Effectively lead a multi-discipline administrative team in critical work functions; Budget, Dietitian, IT, Operations, Human Resources, Training, Data Analysis and Reporting.
- Administer District policy, procedures and staff job assignments as they relate to food service staff.
- Coordinate and manage the recruitment, selection, onboarding and assignment of
- Evaluate, monitor and coach performance management of department staff.
- Administer and approve progressive discipline proceedings, up to and including termination.
- Develop specifications, strategies and set standards for staff training and professional development.
- Oversee planning and execution of in-service training activities; evaluates turnover and attrition trends. Collaborate with Union Executives; lead department collective bargaining negotiations.
- Compliance & Risk Management:
- Identify and assess potential compliance risks affecting the department and implement strategies to mitigate and resolve persisting concerns.
- Collaborate and cooperate with district leadership and external agencies to ensure compliance across the organization.
- Establishes monitoring reports/systems of food establishments, facilities, or programs to ensure compliance.
- Ensures compliance in food establishments through adequate inspections and analysis.
- Maintain accurate records of compliance activities, audits, and any relevant documentation.
- Develop, monitor and implement ongoing internal auditing procedures (e.g., staff onboarding, staff job assignment, program compliance, stakeholder engagement & feedback, etc). Proactively forecast risks, barriers and impediments to federal program compliance.
- Operations & Financial Management:
- Prepare and manage multi-million-dollar budget in cooperation with the Finance Department; participate in the allocation of budget to administrative
- Maximizes meal reimbursements, experience leading free/reduce lunch application process.
- Develop procedures and supervise activities required to qualify for, to claim, collect, record and control food service
- Assist architects and professional planners in the development of plans and layouts for food service facilities; participate in the development of specifications for capital improvements and construction of facilities. Communicate District school food service needs to federal, state and local policy makers as required; work effectively with State Department of Education and federal
- Community, Stakeholder & Public Relations:
- Effectively manage and generate nutrition partnerships with community stakeholders.
- Presents to leadership, stakeholders and Board of Directors, as required.
- Possess strong human relations skills; Board of Directors, Executive Team and media facing role.
- Engage with stakeholders to foster support and collaboration for department initiatives.
To Be Successful at This Job, You'll Need To: (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bring Expertise and Vision:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics, Business or related field.
- 3-5 years of prior experience as Director or Auditor of USDA child nutrition programs.
- Successful experience in management and compliance of operational and financial
- Hold or be eligible for SNS certification.
