Job Title: Special Events Coordinator                                                                 Job Summary: This position’s primary responsibility will be to take lead on small-scale gameday and non-gameday events as well as assist in the overall execution of large-scale events at Kauffman Stadium. Responsibilities of this role include being an agile team member of the Events & Activations team, working behind the scenes to aid in the creation and execution of unique experiences for the Kansas City Royals.   Position Accountabilities/Responsibilities: Lead smaller-capacity special events during gamedays and non-gamedays Lead in the planning, coordinating, and execution of signature special events, such as Career Day at the K, School Day at the K, Memorial Stair Climb, Career Panels, etc. Lead internal distribution of all giveaway and theme items (internally for front office) Assist with external distribution of all giveaway items (externally at gates) Assist in managing theme night item distribution to ensure proper delivery Assist on theme night execution, as well as any applicable planning and coordination Assist with any large-scale internal events, such as Diamond of Dreams, Galas, Holiday Parties, etc. Support on any large-scale non-gameday events, such as Savannah Bananas, Royals Rally and concerts Ensure clear, articulate and timely communication of event needs and requirements to all internal departments, partners, and vendors Assist in creative planning, developing, improving, and evolving all theme nights and special events from year to year Support with updating the promotional calendar site as needed Assist with various concert prep, and other large-scale events as needed Other duties as assigned by Senior Manager of Activations and Giveaways Position Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required: A minimum of 2-3 years of related experience in event planning with a strong background in the planning and coordination of these events Has previous event planning and execution experience; supporting with day-of responsibilities to bring events to life Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Proactive thinking individual with the ability to multitask Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to handle multiple projects at once and prioritize to meet deadlines Ability to handle some manual labor, including lifting boxes and pushing carts Can handle outside environment working conditions Able to work evenings and weekends as needed for Royals home games, and non-game day special events Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Marketing, Communication, or related field is a plus Physical Requirements: Ability to lift items weighing as much as 15 pounds Must be able to work in a seated position for majority of workday Must be able to be productive utilizing a computer keyboard and telephone Must be able to be productive in a work environment where the noise level can be high at times Must be comfortable walking to navigate the facility to access the office, concourse, etc. Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as required by deadlines and event scheduling The physical demands described here are representative of those that may be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This role is a Full-Time, Exempt opportunity that is eligible for Company Benefits, 401K, and PTO. This role is expected to have a standard 40-hour work week.
