As an HR Professional, you will work with employees at all levels who are dedicated to administering and supporting several critical programs that assist the citizens of Kansas.
Position Summary & Responsibilities: HR Professional
This position requires full-time in-office attendance for at least the first six months or until the selected candidate is fully trained and can work independently. Following the training period, four in-office days per week are required. Our office requires HR representation in person five days a week to ensure seamless operations and employee support.

Key Responsibilities:
New Employee Orientation & Onboarding
- Schedule, coordinate, and conduct New Employee Orientation (NEO) to ensure a smooth and informative onboarding experience.
- Explain benefit packages, employment details, and agency policies to new hires.
- Manage required paperwork, initiate personnel files, and ensure I-9 compliance through E-Verify.
- Conduct agency overview orientation sessions for new hires and contractors.
Benefits Administration
- Serve as the administrator for health benefits, FMLA, Shared Leave, Paid Parental Leave, and the Infant at Work program.
- Provide resources, education, and guidance to employees and management regarding these programs.
- Track hours, process requests, issue status letters, and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain and update HR communication channels with accurate benefits information.
- Coordinate onsite benefits meetings (KPERS 457, Learning Quest, retirement planning, etc.).
Badge Administration
- Issue new and replacement employee, vendor, and contractor badges while ensuring all background checks and paperwork are complete.
- Manage access changes, monitor reports, and maintain badge records.
Kansas Learning & Performance Management (KLPM) Administration
- Manage performance review transfers for lateral moves and promotions.
- Issue special performance reviews as required.
- Assist employees and supervisors with KLPM troubleshooting.
- Generate reports and ensure compliance with performance review procedures.
Records Retention & HR Communications
- Maintain HR records in compliance with records retention schedules.
- Organize and archive inactive employee files for proper recordkeeping.
- Communicate personnel updates, awards, and other information in HR Teams channel.
- Update and distribute the agency organizational chart.
Other Duties as Assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Self-starter who takes initiative.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Benefits administration, FMLA, Shared Leave, Parental Leave, and records retention.
- Familiarity with Kansas Learning and Performance Management (KLPM) processes.
- Experience in onboarding and orientation program coordination.
- Experience with HRIS, SHaRP (Statewide Human Resource and Payroll system).
