What are the responsibilities and job description for the New Patient Representative position at Kansas Orthopaedic Center?
Receptionist needed in busy Physical and Occupational Therapy department of our orthopaedic practice to register new patients, verify benefits, obtain authorizations, check in patients and schedule appointments.
POSITION SCHEDULE: 7:00am - 4:00pm, Monday - Friday. No weekend work, no holiday work!
JOB DUTIES:
Input patient demographics, insurance and accident information timely into the computer system and verify benefit information for all new patients.
Obtain authorization for all insurances and appointment types that require prior authorization for therapy services.
Enter and maintain referring physician and employer codes in our system.
Perform patient check in and check out duties, as needed.
Answer phones, schedule patient initial and follow up appointments, schedule interpreters and process incoming therapy orders, as needed; Arrive, Cancel, and No Show patients in the computer system according to their appointment status.
Perform chart check for the next day's appointments and process charts after each appointment, as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED
One - two years experience working with medical insurance
One year medical reception experience preferred
Ability to prioritize, work independently, and communicate (orally and written) effectively
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to speak clearly, calmly and to maintain patience
Proficiency with Windows based applications and familiarity with scheduling software
