What are the responsibilities and job description for the On-Site Safety Manager position at KAP Project Services?
The desired candidate will assume leadership of an On-Site Safety Center (OSSC) located within a large refinery. The manager will ensure the OSSC provides exceptional services to the host site in accordance with client requirements, contracts, procedures and deliverable schedules. The candidate will manage the work of approximately twelve technicians performing fire equipment, respiratory protection equipment, safety attendant and other various services.
Duties:
- Implements the SSS Scout application to ensure equipment inspections are completed in accordance with pre-determined schedules, work documents, client and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures tasks are completed in a safe manner and all safety protocols are implemented.
- Manages the OSSC budget.
- Develops and reports performance metrics to the client and SSS management.
- Tracks equipment discrepancies to closure.
- Manages assigned equipment, stock, vehicles, etc. in order meet client needs. Includes implementing a preventive maintenance program.
- Implements the SSS Safety, Quality and Business Management (e.g., Human Resources, Finance) Programs
- Utilizing the SSS performance appraisal system collaborates with employees on coaching, mentoring and performance assessment.
- Ensure employees are properly trained to perform assigned tasks.
- Holds daily toolbox meetings.
- Collaborates with SSS management and the client to resolve concerns in a timely manner.
- Ensures the OSSC operates in accordance with all Federal (e.g., OSHA), State, Local, Client and SSS requirements.
- Manages and submits all required client and SSS business documentation (e.g. Billing) in accordance with agreed upon schedules.
- Develops annual goals and objectives for the OSSC.
- Provides business forecasts upon requests
- Performs other management duties as assigned.
Work Experience:
Two years’ management experience in a petrochemical environment.
Five years or more experience in a petrochemical environment.
Experience in fire and respiratory equipment inspections along with Safety Attendant (Confined Space, Fire Watch) is preferred.
Skills
- Knowledge of federal, state, OSHA and NFPA requirements as they pertain performing ITM of fire and respiratory protection equipment.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft applications (word, excel)
- Ability to use tablet and phone based applications for conducting and documenting inspections.
- Willingness to be cross trained and assume additional responsibility.
- Willing to wear SSS and customer required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as flame resistant clothing, safety toed shoes, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves and as needed, hearing protection and respiratory protection.
Working Environment:
Primarily outdoors in a plant environment. Exposed to changing weather conditions along with plant hazards such as loud noise (in specific areas), chemical releases (potential), vehicle traffic, slips, trips, and falls.

Educational Requirements:
- Associate degree in a technical field (e.g., Engineering, Safety, Industrial Hygiene) preferred
- Associate degree in other fields (e.g., Business, Natural Sciences) will be considered
