Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and organized Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in an assisted living environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing the quality of life for seniors, particularly those dealing with aging issues, dementia care, and other related challenges. This role involves planning, coordinating, and facilitating recreational activities that promote social interaction and emotional well-being.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a variety of recreational programs tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Manage schedules for activities, ensuring that all events are well-organized and communicated effectively to residents and staff.
- Collaborate with caregivers, and other staff to assess residents' needs and preferences.
- Provide support during activities to encourage participation and engagement among residents.
- Plan special events and outings that foster community involvement and enhance resident experiences.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Previous experience in assisted living or similar environments is preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to connect with seniors compassionately.
- Knowledge of aging issues counseling and recreational therapy practices is a plus.
- Familiarity with dementia care techniques is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple schedules effectively.
- A background in social work or related fields is advantageous but not required.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
- A genuine desire to care for others and enhance their quality of life through meaningful activities.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $19.50 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 24 per week
