Dishwasher

Syracuse University Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority is looking for part-time dishers to help our meal services run smoothly.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include completing the following as directed by the Facility Director. Other duties may be assigned:

• Cleaning dining hall tables
• Washing dishes used by members
• Breaking down and cleaning the food service area
• Storing leftovers
• Take out trash

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Previous kitchen experience (preferred but not required).

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Bilingual is a plus (Spanish).

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

• General math and analytical skills.

REASONING ABILITY:

• Moderate. Must be able to apply principles of logical thinking to a variety of practical situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may occasionally involve minor deviations. Needs ability to think rationally beyond a specific set of instructions.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

• Should be proficient with Word, Excel, and email.

• A dishwasher must fulfill the performance standards of this position and comply with policies, rules and procedures of Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity Housing Corporation or otherwise communicated (verbally or in writing) to employees.

- Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, or pans using dishwashers or by hand
- Place clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment in storage areas
- Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, or utensils in clean and orderly condition
- Stock supplies such as food or utensils in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, or salad bars
- Sweep or scrub floors
- Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas
- Assist with food preparation and cooking as needed

Experience:
- Previous experience working in a food service establishment preferred
- Knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation procedures
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
