General Education Associate (part-time) - Karen Acres Elementary [2025-26 School Year]

^{PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The purpose of the General Education Associate is to, under general supervision, provide supervision for students across the school day- practicing skills with small groups of students,  providing supervision for lunch and recess and working collaboratively with a team to meet the needs of the building.}

Between 3-4 hours/day.  The final schedule is still to be determined.

This position is part-time and is not eligible for health insurance benefits.

^{Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:}

1. Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment including computer, printer, ten-key calculator, copy machine, fax machine, telephone, etc.

2. Effective oral and written communication skills.

3. Must be able to interact positively with students, faculty, parents, and other staff members.

4. Knowledge of School District policies and procedures.

^{1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.}

^Experience:

^{1. Some experience with supervising children preferred.}

^Equipment:

^{1. Office equipment such as cell phones, multi-line phone system, fax machines, copiers, and computers.}

^{2. Assistive devices such as wheelchairs and walkers.}

^{ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:}

^{1. Supervise students in hallways, the lunchroom, playground, and classroom as needed.}

^{2. Work with kindergarten - 5th grade students on academic skills.}

^{3. Assist teachers in the supervision of children on field trips.}

^{4. Assist classroom teacher and pupils in cleaning up after special projects.}

^{5. Monitor and communicate supply and material needs.}

^{6. Assist students with self-care needs when appropriate.}

^{7. Assist classroom teacher in maintaining their classroom, supplies, and materials as needed.}

^{8. Assist the main office with any projects or assignments as needed.}

^{9. Maintain student work areas in a neat and orderly manner.}

^{10. Perform clerical tasks such as making phone calls, filing, and maintaining student records.}

^{11. Report incidents of an unusual nature to the teacher and principal.} 

^{12. Knowledge of emergency procedures for the building and classroom.}

^{13. Maintain confidentiality.}

^{14. Maintain a reliable attendance record.}

^{15. Other duties as assigned.}

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:

- None

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Satisfactory health as certified by a competent medical authority upon hire.

- Repetitious bending, lifting, and hand movement.

- Ability to work while standing, moving and/or walking.

- Drug, tobacco, and alcohol-free while working.

- Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.

- Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Majority of work is performed in an office or school setting.

- Occasional meetings outside the school day.

- Occasional exposure to body fluids, fumes, noise, and hazardous materials and emergency situations.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

- At-will employee.

- Letter of Assignment.

- Per Board Policies and administrative guidelines.

- Performance evaluated annually.
