Starting Salary $108,500.00 per year based on experience.

Provides overall planning, direction, supervision, and oversight of the Hospice Program. Ensures all Nursing staff and management maintain an adequate level of competency regarding Nursing skills, Hospice and Palliative care programs and services. Assures quality care by reviewing and assessing each service and responsible for the clinical performance of nursing in all areas to facilitate effective, efficient patient care.
The Clinical Director oversees the required committees of the organization and ensures the organization remains in compliance with all licensure requirements. The Clinical Director is responsible to the Chief Operating Officer for day-to-day management of the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice and for the effective and efficient use of all resources in carrying out the organization's purposes
- Studies, plans, revises, directs, and/or evaluates processes and systems to achieve long- and short-term goals in Hospice to include recommendations for technological processes and upgrades/improvements.
- Ensures the maintenance of medical records, assuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with licensing regulations, certification standards, legal and ethical standards in a timely manner per written Policy & Procedures Manual.
- Ensures appeals correspondence and documentation is completed and submitted within required time frames.
- Sets and monitors benchmarks with Agency and departmental teams, including productivity, quality of care, improvements and documentation.
- Actively participates in developing a departmental budget, as requested, and within the approved timeline. Routinely monitors line items, maintaining expenses at or below budget and/or maintaining a relationship between costs and service volume. Makes recommendations and/or adjustments which impact operating performance.
- Evaluates clinical costs in conjunction with managers to promote cost containment while providing the highest standard of service and comfort to patients.
- Meet deadlines and respond to requests in a timely and professional manner. Meet agency regulatory/licensure requirements that affect job responsibilities. Implement decisions and follow through on commitments. Demonstrate initiative in resolving problems and working collaboratively with others to achieve department and agency goals.
- Oversees Hospice policy and procedure development in conjunction with department managers/supervisors with regard to standardizing staff performance, defining competencies for orientation and annual performance.
- Works collaboratively with Administrative Asst. to ensure personnel records for all Hospice staff are compliant with all applicable regulations.
- Ensures that criteria-based performance evaluations are completed within three weeks of due date; conducts progressive discipline in a timely and appropriate manner according to policy.
- Coordinates all patient services by reviewing plans of care, ensuring IDT meetings are compliant, reviewing clinical notes, periodic patient evaluations and determining frequency and/or staffing patterns. Responsible for compliance with recertification and Face to Face requirements.
- Actively participates in and coordinates Hospice Professional Advisory Committee meetings and subcommittee meeting.
- Participates in outreach activities with physician offices, referral sources and facilities to secure consistent referral streams. Engages in studies and investigation related to improving delivery of services.
- Direct or conduct recruitment, hiring and training of clinical personnel; direct, supervise and evaluation work activities of clinical personnel.
- Serves as the Compliance officer for the Organization.
- Provides administrative back-up for on-call services.

Education and Experience:
Required Education: Graduate of an NLN accredited school of nursing; current licensure in New Jersey and Pennsylvania; MSN or BSN with equivalent experience.
Preferred Education: MSN
Required Experience: Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in Medicare-certified Hospice and/or Home Care, and 5 years Supervisory experience. Managerial, analytical decision-making and problem-solving skills. Working knowledge of regulatory process (HCFA, NJDHSS, CHAP). Demonstrates strong leadership qualities as evidenced by work history and performance
Preferred Experience: Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in Medicare-certified Hospice and Home Care.
