What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Technician position at Kari Visser-Robel, OD?
Hours: approximately 32 hours per week, Tuesday-Friday
Pay Type: Hourly
Job Summary: The purpose of this position is to assist the optometrists by performing various tasks including obtaining patient histories and conducting preliminary diagnostic and vision testing. These tasks provide the doctors with important information that will, therefore, allow the patient to receive proper care and treatment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Electronic medical record documentation, which includes recording the chief complaint and/or reason for exam and updating medical and ocular histories
- Diagnostic and vision testing at a preliminary level. This includes, but is not limited to: auto refraction, obtaining visual acuity, and color vision screening
- Conducting visual field tests
- Monitoring patient flow throughout the office, while properly communicating delays with the patients. This also requires maintaining and cleaning instruments after patient use
- Checking in lab orders and ensuring accuracy of prescriptions
- Ordering and stocking inventory for exam room, tech room, and lab
- Other duties and responsibilities as necessary
Required Skills:
- High School Diploma
- Must have basic computer skills and knowledge
- Ability and desire to provide outstanding patient care
- Multi-tasking and organizational skills

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 38 per week
