JOB TITLE: Buyer & Sales Associate

Job Summary: Want to join a fun and dynamic team? Karin's Florist in Vienna, VA has an immediate job opening for a full-time Buyer and Sales Associate. This hybrid role combines the creativity and strategy of sourcing fresh flowers and hard goods with the customer-focused responsibilities of a retail sales associate. Our busy retail store has been in business since 1956 and offers a friendly and upbeat atmosphere.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Purchasing and Inventory Management

Source and purchase fresh flowers and hard goods while maintaining cost of goods metrics.
Research and introduce innovative floral varieties and products to keep inventory fresh and appealing, presenting recommendations to the Karin’s Leadership Team.
Build and maintain strong relationships with wholesalers and growers; conduct price comparisons to secure the best quality and value.
Coordinate competitive bids for flowers and standard hard goods from designated wholesalers.
Propose selections of specialty hard goods to the Karin’s Leadership Team.
Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure timely restocking and minimize waste.
Collaborate with the team on special projects, events, and campaigns, including weddings and corporate events, to ensure quality and consistency.

Retail Sales & Customer Service

Provide exceptional service by greeting customers warmly and assisting them in selecting flowers, gifts, and décor that meet their needs and preferences.
Stay current with product offerings to make informed recommendations to customers.
Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently, ensuring an excellent customer experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Proven experience in floral buying or a related field.
Strong organization and negotiation skills.
Ability to manage budgets and maintain cost of goods within established targets.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Familiarity with wholesale flower markets and suppliers is a plus.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to include Saturdays, and holidays are required.
