JOB TITLE: Delivery Manager
JOB TYPE: Fulltime exempt, salaried
Job Summary: The Delivery Manager holds a key leadership role at Karin’s Florist. The manager is responsible for schedules, routes/delivery processes, and training; while ensuring that proper safety and traffic/vehicle regulatory standards are met. Ensures that all arrangements are handled properly in order to exceed customer expectations by communicating with other departments and continually addressing concerns/areas for improvement with Drivers. Reports to the General Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review delivery requests to route out drivers in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Optimize delivery routes to minimize driving distances, reduce delivery times, and maximize the number of deliveries per driver shift while considering factors such as traffic conditions and delivery priorities.
- Utilize dispatching system to input delivery requests, assign drivers to specific routes, and communicate assignments to drivers in a timely manner.
- Ensure smooth transitions between shifts and days off, facilitating efficient handovers to other Karin’s employees to maintain delivery efficiency.
- Manage downtime effectively by deploying drivers to assist in-store operations as needed, contributing to overall store productivity.
- Make sure that wedding weekends are mapped out and drivers/vehicles are laid out at least 1 week in advance.
- Make sure the labor and truck costs associated with events and holiday set-up are captured.
- Develop and post driver schedules in advance, coordinating with drivers to accommodate their availability while ensuring delivery coverage meets business demands.
- Must comply with Safety and all Driver duties outlined in the Driver Policy List
- Drive all sizes of Karin’s Florist vehicles within Karin’s delivery area, navigating various weather conditions while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism.
- Oversee and manage all operational expenses related to delivery operations, with a primary focus on vehicle and delivery expenses.
- Develop and maintain budgets for vehicle maintenance, fuel, and other delivery-related costs.
- Log incoming shipments into the store, and as requested unpack inventory.
- Work with the entire leadership team for the success of Karin’s Florist and to create a positive experience for our customers, to streamline processes and to maintain a positive work environment for employees in and out of the Delivery Department.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Previous dispatch/delivery experience necessary where the focus on providing excellent customer service is modeled.
- Ability to lead others with tact and handle all situations in a professional manner through excellent verbal and written communication.
- Analytical thinker who is capable of comparing costs & gains on multiple levels using technology, software, and other tools to expedite reports, payroll and communications.
- Must be proficient with area maps and tools which detail addresses and routes.
- Ability to work without supervision in an organized manner and function as a team player at all times.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and/or transport a min. of 50 lbs. on a regular basis; as well as sit stand, and drive for prolonged periods of time.
- Compliance with all traffic and safety regulations is required and proof of valid driver’s license issued in either VA, MD, DC with a satisfactory driving record.
- Strong communication and computer skills
- Available to work occasional Sundays with no supervision.
