What are the responsibilities and job description for the Document Control Specialist position at Karman Space & Defense?
SUMMARY:
Create, implement and support a document control system that positively controls product definition and configuration management. Control Customer engineering data, parts lists, and specifications; distribute and recall as necessary to manufacturing personnel in support of production and AS 9100 procedures. Document Control must be able to explain the respective role within the QMS and how their role contributes to quality (Ref. Quality Procedures). Document Control shall contribute to product conformity as apart to their daily job function and shall contribute to product safety. Document Control shall also be aware of ethical behavior and conduct themselves accordingly to Karman Space & Defense policies and procedures (Ref. Employee Handbook).

RESPONSIBILITY & AUTHORITY:
· Maintain and Realize AS 9100 procedures and continuous improvement efforts.
· Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
· Maintain a filing system to track current revision level of Customer Engineering data.
· Remove and destroy obsolete Engineering and Quality data.
· Provide copy services to manufacturing personnel for Engineering and Quality data.
· Create and establish a system to control Customer electronic transfer data.
· Maintain the electronic transfer data control system for retention and distribution.
· Must understand how customer products are impacted in the event of failure.
· Any other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
· Adequate years of experience in Quality Control/Assurance document control determined by Karman Space & Defense.
· Adequate years of experience in using data base document control methods determined by Karman Space & Defense.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be detail oriented, extremely organized, must possess excellent communication skills, and be able to interact well with all levels of Management.
· Must possess excellent computer skills, including working knowledge of word, spreadsheets and databases.
· Must have direct communication with internal customers.
· Must be able to receive formal training of changes & customer requirements.
· Must know the QMS basic system of reporting, record keeping and follow instructions.
