We are looking for a highly motivated and engaging Culinary Teacher to lead cooking classes for children between the ages of 16 months and 12 years. Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and Teach Culinary Classes: Develop and implement creative, age-appropriate cooking lessons for children ages 16 months to 12 years. Classes will focus on basic cooking techniques, food preparation, and promoting healthy eating habits.
- Introduce Culinary Skills & Nutrition Concepts: Teach children basic cooking techniques (e.g., measuring, stirring, chopping) while emphasizing the importance of nutrition, food safety, and kitchen safety.
- Foster Creativity and Exploration: Encourage children to experiment with ingredients, create their own recipes, and explore various food cultures and cuisines from around the world.
- Promote Healthy Eating Habits: Help children understand the importance of a balanced diet and develop a positive relationship with food.
- Provide Hands-On Learning: Engage children in hands-on cooking activities that are interactive, fun, and educational.
- Create a Safe and Organized Kitchen Environment: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen or designated cooking area. Ensure that all children adhere to safety protocols while participating in cooking activities.
- Work Collaboratively with Staff: Collaborate with other teachers and school staff to ensure that culinary lessons integrate with broader learning themes and activities.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and supportive classroom environment, ensuring that all children are engaged and actively participating.
- Provide Feedback to Parents: Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s progress in the culinary program, including sharing successes, challenges, and any recommended activities for continued learning at home.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: High school diploma required. Culinary Arts degree or certification is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience teaching children, particularly in a culinary or educational setting, is highly desirable.
- Skills and Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen safety, and food safety practices.
- Ability to develop and adapt age-appropriate lesson plans for children of various ages.
