Junior Security Analyst

Key Responsibilities

• Monitoring Security Systems: Continuously monitor network traffic, security systems, and logs for unusual activity and potential threats.
• Incident Response: Investigate and respond to security breaches and attacks, working to contain and mitigate the impact.
• Risk Assessment: Identify vulnerabilities in systems, software, and networks, and assess risks to the organization’s digital infrastructure.
• Implement Security Measures: Install and configure security tools (firewalls, encryption, intrusion detection systems) to protect against potential threats.
• Compliance and Policy Enforcement: Ensure that security measures comply with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and enforce security policies across the organization.
• Security Awareness Training: Educate employees on best practices for data protection and safe online behavior to reduce human error in security breaches.
• Reporting and Documentation: Create reports on security incidents, risks, and analysis to inform management and guide decision-making.
• Collaboration with IT Teams: Work closely with other IT professionals to ensure systems are properly configured and vulnerabilities are patched.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• At least one year of experience working in a security operations center (SOC) or network operations center (NOC) performing security event monitoring and analysis.
• Must possess a working knowledge of operating systems (windows,OS X, Linux, ect) commonly deployed in enterprise networks.
• Secret security clearance.
• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, antivirus software, encryption techniques, and other security technologies.
• Cybersecurity Certifications: Certifications like CompTIA Security , CISSP, or CEH, Security are preferred.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze logs, recognize patterns, and make sense of security data to detect and prevent breaches.
• Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills for identifying and fixing security issues quickly.
• Knowledge of Operating Systems: Experience with multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS) and their security settings.
• Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical teams and report on security issues.
