THE POSITION:
We are looking to hire a full-time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to provide support to individuals in the Boulder County area.
A DSP provides direct care and support to adults with developmental disabilities. A typical day as a DSP can include supporting an individual to participate in community activities that they enjoy, companionship and support with social skills, assisting with preparing meals, light house care, and supports with personal care needs as necessary.

General Purpose
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) supports adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities in our day services program. This position builds genuine relationships and offers person-centered supports to help consumers reach their individual goals and improve their quality of life.
Essential Duties
- Monitor the health, safety, and well-being of the individuals in our care.
- Implement and complete tracking for ISSPs and/or BISSPs to enrich the lives of the individuals we support by helping them achieve their goals.
- Support consumers with any daily living supports they may need, including but not limited to, grocery shopping and meal preparation and maintaining their home.
- Provide transportation, as needed, to support individuals to access their community.
- Administer medication and complete the Medication Administration Record according to current physicians’ orders and individual consumer support needs.
- Complete documentation timey, accurately, and thoroughly to ensure compliance with HCPF and State Medicaid regulations.
- Deliver outstanding customer service through timely and person-centered communication with consumers, providers, and KCS team members.
- Utilize company systems to communicate and collaborate with other KCS team members.
- Collaborate with the consumer, IDT members, and medical staff to remain current on individual support needs, goals, and ensure consistent supports are provided.
- Attend regularly scheduled team meetings for ongoing training, support, and to develop team rapport.
- Collaborate closely with Program Coordinator and supervisor on shift scheduling and supporting where needed.
- Ensure all required trainings are complete and up to date including all Sky Prep trainings, CPR/FA, QMAP, and SCM.
Job Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma is required.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Minimum of 1-2 year(s) of related experience preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
Other Qualifications:
- Ability to manage crises and adapt to rapidly changing demands of the position, consumer and agency needs.
- Ability to effectively problem solve and independently utilize available resources.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and meet Karuna Care Services’ driving requirements.
- The position requires the use of a personal vehicle with liability insurance that meets Karuna Care Services’ standards.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
