Job Description Regional Support Specialist
Department: Student Services
Classification: Non-Union Support Staff, Non-Exempt
Employment Status: Regular, full-time, 40 hours per week regular, 12 months
Evening hours required. Typical working hours will be
Monday through Thursday 10:00 am – 8:30 pm
Function:
To provide coverage at all education centers and main campus during times when staff are on vacation, personal leave, or sick leave. To provide comprehensive student support services to students. Acts as a College representative at the education centers. Provides College information to the public.
Organizational Relationship:
The Regional Support Specialist reports to the Regional Director of the Education
Centers, who reports to the Vice President of Student Services, who reports to
College President.
Qualifications:
Required:
Associate degree with relevant work experience.
Excellent customer service skills

9. Commitment to supporting and participating in student activities and College events

Essential Functions:
To travel to education center locations and main campus to provide coverage for student services staff in times of absences.
Perform comprehensive student services for the benefit of all students (current and prospects) campus-wide which are supportive of admission through completion of education plan.
Assist in the recruitment of students.
Assist students with technology applications for learning including Canvas navigation, myKC, and other online platforms.
6. Ensure the proper opening and closing procedures and securing of facility is conducted at beginning and end of each day as needed.
7. Act as the College representative in the absence of the Director/Coordinator.
8. Provide accurate College information to the public.
9. Supervise student workers in the absence of the Director/Coordinator.
10. Support students in acquisition of textbooks and other resources for learning.
11. Provide supportive services to faculty, students, and community members who
utilize the education center.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Position may supervise student workers and custodial staff as necessary.
Supervisory Controls:
While consultations with the Center Director/Coordinator are available as necessary, the employee must be able to work independently and with a minimum amount of supervision. In addition, employee must be able to use independent judgment in dealing with and setting priorities for routine responsibilities and challenges that may arise.
Guidelines:
Employee is required to follow all Kaskaskia College policies and procedures, local, state, and federal laws. Employee is also expected to adhere to and promote College Core Values of compassion, honesty, fairness, respect, and responsibility.
Personal Relationships:
Employee deals extensively with College employees, community members, students, and outside organizations on a daily basis.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Normal working conditions are located in a busy office environment with frequent distractions and interruptions. Professionalism must be maintained at all times. Lifting of books and supplies up to 50 lbs. may be required. Occasional travel within the district and for professional development activities is required. Evening hours required as part of regular schedule. Typical working hours will be Monday through Thursday 10:00 am – 8:30 pm.
