Job Description
Position Title: Child Care Program Coordinator
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in education, child development, recreation or closely related field.
Experience working with children and managing adults
Reports to: Community Education Director
Job Summary: The Child Care Program Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership and overseeing the daily operations of Project Kids (preschool/school age certified child care program) and Project Beginnings (infant/toddler licensed child care program) under the guidance of the Director of Community Education
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and execute the program and curriculum for the full-day Child Care Center and ensure that the program provided meets the highest quality standards.
- Maintain a strong staff by recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and appraising the work of the child care teaching and support personnel.
- Give personal attention and supervision to every aspect of the child care operation.
- Establish goals and objectives for the program that are consistent with those of the district, and what is developmentally appropriate for the children.
- Effectively communicates both verbally and in writing with parents on an ongoing basis (family newsletters, Procare communication, email, etc.).
- Implement staff meetings/training at a time which all staff can attend.
- Maintain responsibility for the safety and supervision of the children.
- Responsible for maintaining a staff schedule to ensure that all ratios remain in compliance with regulations. This may include acting as a classroom teacher or opening/closing the center on short notice.
- Fiscally responsible in ensuring program sustainability by aligning billing and program rates appropriately. Ensures that supplies, equipment, and resources are available and well-maintained.
- Verify all program staff time sheets each month to reflect time worked and absences and submit to the Community Education Director in a timely manner.
- Complete Great Start compensation in the provider hub between the 10th and 20th of each month.
- Ensure the development of a daily schedule that fits the children’s developmental needs and interests.
- Ensure the program meets DHS Certification standards and DHS Licensing standards.
- Develop and follow appropriate program policies and procedures.
- Evaluate programs according to student, parent and community needs.
- Attend meetings and report to the Community Education Advisory Council, School Board and other groups as requested.
- Collaborate with K-M Elementary and the Early Learning Coordinator to ensure smooth transitions between academics and out of school time.
- Assist in creating program marketing and promotional materials
- Follow district policies and procedures by reserving facility space for program needs.
- Maintain First Aid and CPR certification
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, child development, recreation or closely related field.
- Experience working with children and managing adults.
- Proficient computer and technology skills
- Previous experience using Procare registration program & Tuition Express preferred.
- Willingness to adapt rapidly and effectively change to meet program needs.
Salary range: $67,500 - $78,500, based on experience.
