Who We Are
Katalyst Group is a service design agency and design-build partner for fast-growing, multi-location franchise brands. We create branded retail and restaurant servicescapes that blend customer experience, operational strategy, and smart execution. Our multidisciplinary creative team includes interior architects, graphic designers, and industrial engineers, all supported by our in-house production facility.
The Role
In this role, you’ll help document our client’s brand strategy and operational requirements into thoughtful, buildable environments. You’ll work across a wide range of service environments—from QSR and retail, to wellness and specialty clinics—ensuring our designs aren’t just beautiful, but also efficient, durable, and scalable. This role lives in the space between concept and execution, partnering closely with our engineers, project managers, and fabricators.
What You’ll Do
- Contribute to schematic, design development, and construction drawing sets for franchise and commercial interiors
- Support the design of millwork, furniture systems, and custom fixtures that align with brand standards and manufacturing constraints
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including strategy, engineering, estimating, production, and client services
- Conduct site surveys, and review client location files
- Create documents to coordinate with external consultants (Architects, MEP, structural, code, etc.) as needed
- Review zoning, building codes, and ADA guidelines to inform design decisions
- Assist in value-engineering to ensure project scalability without compromising quality
- Participate in design presentations and internal workshops to align on project direction
- Create presentations, diagrams, and proposals meeting Katalyst visual standards while tailoring to individual client needs
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Architecture, Interior Design, or Architecture
- 1–3 years of experience in commercial interiors, preferably in retail, hospitality or restaurant environments
- Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Proficient in producing drawings, presentations and CD sets
- Eager to learn how to balance design intent with cost and manufacturability
- Detail-oriented, self-directed, and able to manage multiple fast-paced projects
- Strong communicator who thrives in cross-disciplinary collaboration
Bonus Points If You
- Understand manufacturing processes and furniture systems
- Have worked with fabricators or general contractors
- Have experience working in retail, restaurant, or hospitality environments
- Bring an eye for environmental graphics or wayfinding
- Have an interest in learning about behavioral psychology and servicescape design
