The Project Engineering Supervisor
This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment with business objectives, safety standards, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Leadership:
Oversee the full lifecycle of capital projects, from concept development to execution, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
Coordinate tasks and projects across the engineering team and assign responsibilities to direct reports.
Facilitate project reviews with key stakeholders to refine project requirements and expectations.
Monitor project schedules, budgets, and milestones to ensure timely completion and budget adherence.
Engage with Maintenance personnel to align engineering projects with operational and maintenance needs.
Technical Design & Implementation
Develop comprehensive project design specifications from conceptual ideas with minimal supervision.
Prepare cost justifications and project estimates to support management approval, including Authorizations for Expenditure (AFE) and Project Approval Forms (PAF).
Procure equipment and parts, ensuring compatibility with technical requirements and design codes.
Manage external consulting, engineering, and design services as needed.
Develop project schedules to efficiently utilize internal and external resources.
Compliance & Safety
Maintain a focus on safety throughout all project phases and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
Lead the Management of Change (MOC) process, including Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs).
Ensure all engineering projects comply with company, industry, and regulatory standards.
Maintain up-to-date documentation, including drawings, P&IDs, and equipment records.
Participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) reviews and provide technical guidance to ensure safety compliance.
Collaboration & Communication
Act as a liaison between customers, contractors, and internal teams to address technical needs and project-related inquiries.
Collaborate with procurement to create bid specifications, perform bid evaluations, and negotiate with suppliers.
Provide regular updates to managers and senior leaders regarding project progress and budget status.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Minimum of five years of project management experience within a petrochemical or industrial environment.
Strong working knowledge of project management principles, budgeting, and scheduling tools.
Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Proficiency in developing cost justifications and coordinating project approvals.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading engineering teams or departments.
Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) practices and safety reviews.
Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and project management tools.
Demonstrated experience in working with external vendors, contractors, and consultants.
Ability to develop engineering and construction specifications for refinery equipment.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Ability to work in both office and plant environments, including exposure to fluctuating temperatures from
Frequent walking and standing required, with occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
May require use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hearing, respiratory, and eye protection.
Proficiency in using computers, including spreadsheets, statistical tools, and technical software.
Occasional travel required for site visits, project meetings, and business needs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
