What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time/Fill-In Personal Care Assistant (PCA) position at Kate's Personal Care Assistants?
Hi! My name is Kate. I'm 26 and live in Northern NJ. I have a neuromuscular disease and use a wheelchair, and due to my disability, I need help with day-to-day tasks. Through Medicaid, I'm able to hire Personal Care Assistants (fancy term for aide) to help me out and basically live my life as independently as I can!
I am currently looking to expand my team and hire a part-time aide to fill in approximately once or twice a week when I have gaps in my care coverage. This position will include helping me get up, washed, dressed, and into my wheelchair, so you must be able to maneuver/roll/scoot around an approximately 95-100 lb person (me), though I do have a Hoyer lift for transfers. Aside from getting up and ready in the morning, I will also need help getting something to eat, and getting situated for the remainder of the day.
9:30 AM start, anywhere between a 4-5 hour shift, or up to 8 depending on availability and willingness. The job pays NJ minimum wage ($15.43/hour as of 1/1/25) through a Medicaid program. More specifics on the frequency of the position will be discussed upon further inquiry, being that it is a sub position.
Perfect for people who want to pick up some stray hours here and there, for students who are interested in having a casual part-time job around their class schedule, or even anyone looking to gain some experience in healthcare in a laid back, lower stress way!
No prior experience is required and (unpaid, my apologies) training will be provided. Anyone interested just needs to be comfortable and able to help a woman with personal care. More specific details will be given upon serious inquiry.
