Job Description: We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Trusts & Estates Paralegal or Legal Assistant to join a busy solo practice in Punta Gorda, Florida. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of estate planning, trust administration, probate, and related legal processes. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and related documents.
- Draft and file probate and trust administration documents.
- Communicate with clients, beneficiaries, and financial institutions regarding estate and trust matters.
- Conduct research related to probate, trust, and estate laws and regulations.
- Prepare and maintain detailed files, tracking deadlines, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Coordinate with attorneys and clients to gather necessary documentation for probate and estate administration processes.
- Prepare asset inventories and valuations for probate and trust estates.
- Assist with the filing and managing of trust and estate documents with the court and other relevant agencies.
- Handle client correspondence and provide updates on case progress.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the attorney to support the effective operation of the practice.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience working as a Trusts & Estates Paralegal or Legal Assistant, with a strong background in estate planning, probate, and trust administration.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Florida probate and estate planning laws.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with legal research, Microsoft Office, and legal document management software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
