Burke's has a Teaching Institute and each K-4 teacher is responsible for mentoring an Associate Teacher.

Primary Responsibilities
- Working in partnership with the classroom Associate Teacher to plan and teach.
- Planning trips and special projects to support the program
- Creating a warm, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment through regular class meetings, supportive exchanges with students, and clear expectations for community behavior using techniques from Responsive Classroom and Toolbox
- Partnering and communicating proactively and effectively with parents in formal and informal conferences, written reports twice a year (February and June), regular blog postings, email, and phone communication
- Incorporating effective strategies for differentiation and assessment
- Collaborating with the Learning Specialist, Lower School Counselor, and Division Director around student needs and issues that arise

- B.A degree and teaching credential or advanced degree
- At least 2 years of experience leading a middle elementary classroom
