We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. We are a local, privately owned primary care office in Howell, MI. Responsibilities
- Review and analyze patient medical record for correct diagnostic, procedural and all data abstraction items.
- Assign appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies for reimbursement.
- Research and respond to billing issues (missing, denied or rejected claims from insurance companies.
- Answer billing questions from patients.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any information necessary for accurate coding.
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding regulations and practices.
- Utilize various medical office systems for record keeping and billing processes.
Requirements
- Experience in outpatient medical billing and coding preffered.
- Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT coding systems, and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with electronic health information system.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team within a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards related to billing practices.
- Certification in Medical Billing or Coding is preferred.
