What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plans Senior Analyst position at Katmai?
To support the Plans Branch in leading Marine Corps participation in the development of products associated with the Support for Strategic Analysis (SSA) process, this position is responsible for integrating Marine Corps concepts where applicable. The position provides approved joint scenarios in support of Marine Corps concept development, capabilities-based assessments (CBAs), analysis of alternatives (AoAs), and other analytical efforts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Support select joint studies to include Mobility Capability Requirements Studies (MCRS)/Mobility Capability Assessments (MCA), Operational Availability (OA) Studies/Joint Force Assessments (JFA), and Quadrennial Defense Reviews (QDR)/Program Reviews (PR).
- Represent the Marine Corps at other OSD Policy, OSD Office of Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation (CAPE), JS, and service venues (e.g., wargames, studies, etc.).
- Interface with Branch leadership for direct tasking.
- Weekly coordination with On-Site PM on Branch activities.
- Provide O-6 level document review for the Branch.
- Monitor Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs) for the Branch.
The position integrates Marine Corps concepts, capabilities, capacities, and equities within current and developing classified Support for Strategic Analysis (SSA) and other joint products. This includes Chairman Net Assessments (CNA), Classified Annexes (CA), and assisting in drafting CONOPS for SSA scenarios in development.
Duties and Tasks
- Prepare meeting minutes.
- Edit PowerPoint slides.
- Comment on PowerPoint slides and documents.
- Support other joint products with activities such as attending meetings, preparing meeting notes, developing Point Papers, and assisting with staffing of briefings and documents.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Military Education commensurate to experience.
- Must have completed professional military education at the field grade level with an emphasis on second year planner schools (e.g., School of Advanced Warfighting, School of Advanced Military Studies, etc.).
- In addition, personnel should have experience as the lead planner directing Marine air-ground task force (MAGTF) operational planning teams (OPTs) or joint planning group (JPGs) at the Marine expeditionary force (MEF) or Marine component level.
- Must have an intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid secret security clearance. Certain roles may require Top Secret or Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
