Summary for the Marketing Technology Specialist
The Marketing Technology Specialist is responsible for systems that support the relationship-building efforts of the Firm’s attorneys and the outreach efforts of the Marketing Business Development Department. Specifically, the Marketing Technology Specialist will perform daily operations and quality control for the Contact Relationship Management (CRM) system, Enterprise Relationship Management (ERM) system, and execute marketing campaigns through the email distribution system. The Marketing Technology Specialist maintains professionalism and strict confidentiality in all client and firm matters.
This position may be located in our Chicago, Washington D.C. or New York office. Katten offers a hybrid work model, allowing the flexibility to work both on-site and remotely on a regular basis (KattenFlex).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following. Other duties may be requested and/or assigned. - Create and maintain the firm’s mailing and event lists in the CRM/ERM. Execute related campaigns through the email marketing system, from inception through execution to post-campaign communication. This includes populating contact lists, issuing marketing communications, creating event registration pages, tracking event responses and attendance and conducting daily searches for additions/changes. Prepare impact reports that include engagement statistics.
- Perform data quality and maintenance for the CRM/ERM system, including resolving user tickets, researching and updating company/contact information, logging outreach activities, processing undeliverable emails, managing contact subscriptions and addressing requests for information (e.g., list exports, reports). Establish and adhere to data standards/rules per advertising compliance laws and vendor best practices.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the CRM/ERM and e-mail marketing systems on marketing projects to advance the department’s technology, including upgrades and enhancements, third-party integrations, end-user rollouts and training.
- Guide attorneys and legal executive assistants in CRM/ERM best practices and system use. Lead technical issue resolution with outside vendors and internal IT resources. Develop policies, procedures, application structure and training curriculum for the CRM/ERM and e-marketing platforms.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree and four or more years of experience with CRM/ERM systems required, preferably in Salesforce, LexisNexis InterAction and SigParser. Experience with email marketing systems, particularly Vuture, is strongly preferred. Knowledge of marketing and business development workstreams desired, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Solid technical proficiency required with moderate to expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Experience in database management with the ability to synthesize and analyze large data sets. Exhibit a high degree of critical thinking with an aptitude for detail and accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with courtesy and diplomacy, efficiently follow written and verbal instructions, provide information in various formats, and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of attorneys, clients, staff, and outside contacts.
- Exhibit a high degree of initiative in managing multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented work environment, utilizing excellent judgment, administrative abilities, and decision-making skills. Proactive with excellent troubleshooting, problem resolution, and follow-through skills with the ability to work autonomously.
- Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with others in a team-oriented environment. Ability to act independently and make decisions within the scope of the position’s responsibilities.
- Possesses excellent knowledge of reading, writing, grammar, spelling, punctuation, proofreading, and formatting to analyze and interpret source data, perform administrative functions and prepare relevant documentation.
In our Chicago office, the annualized salary range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
