Qualifications:
Ability to follow established procedures and take directions from supervisor
Experience in maintenance and custodial procedures
Capable of using all types of Operation’s equipment with or without supervision
Physically able to lift, transport and position 50 pounds
Ability to collaborate with others and supervise personnel
Ability to work various shifts at various locations in the district
Ability to maintain emotional stability
Ability to read and comprehend basic operations instructions
Ability to comprehend and communicate in verbal and written English
Ability to communicate verbally in Spanish (Preferred)
Ability to write reports
Demonstrate aptitude for successful completion of tasks assigned
Basic computer skills: email and word processing
Supervisory experience (Preferred)
Primary Purpose:
Maintain physical facilities in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness, and safety so that full educational use of the buildings can be accomplished at all times to provide students and employees an attractive, comfortable, efficient place in which to learn, work, play and develop.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, oversee, and participate in all custodial and authorized repair work, maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness, customer service and efficiency on a daily basis.
- Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the building administrator.
- May be required to work weekend and/or after hour events.
- Is available on short notice for emergency or overtime work.
- Maintain an inventory and recommend purchase of suitable supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Be familiar with location of fire extinguishers and know how to operate them.
- Report damage to school property immediately to the building administrator.
- Work collaboratively with building administrative staff to address building needs.
- Help in the assignment and scheduling of members of the custodial staff, including dividing extra area.
- Train custodians at assigned location in established cleaning procedures and techniques.
- Evaluate the performance of custodial staff and work to resolve personnel issues.
- Attend mandatory meetings and trainings.
- Supervise and follow established procedures for locking, checking and safeguarding facility, including turning off lights.
- Assure that corridors are cleaned after school day and during the day when their condition requires it.
- Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, neat and clean at all times.
- Perform emergency repair or cleaning services as necessary.
- Verify and submit payroll documents.
- Responsible for keys to assigned buildings.
- Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
- Assume additional duties as assigned.
Equipment Used:
Buffer, automatic floor scrubber, carpet extractor, wet and dry vacuum, burnisher, electric drill, hand tools, mop, dust-mop, chair dolly, two-way communication device, computer, washer and dryer.
Working Conditions:
Frequent walking, standing, heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and inside on slippery or uneven walking surfaces. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals, materials and bodily fluids. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. Frequently positions self to gain access to tight spaces and low areas.
