Duty Days: 261 Days/ 8 Hour
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Grade: A06
Qualifications:
Texas Operator’s License
Two years of commercial roofing
Torch certification
Physically able to climb and carry ladders
Physically able to walk or stand for 7 hours
Ability to follow instructions (written and oral)
Physically able to lift 50 pounds
Primary Purpose:
Perform necessary tasks to assure water tight facilities, so that they may be safe, neat, and attractive for our students.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to facilitate commercial roof repair and replacement using all major roofing company manufacturers.
- Operate power driven roof maintenance equipment.
- Perform roof inspections including necessary preventive maintenance repairs.
- Report hazardous conditions.
- Secure rooftop equipment.
- Clean, repair, and replace gutters.
- Test for leaks and make repairs according to manufacture specifications.
- Replace thresholds and door sweeps.
- Replace window and skylight sealants.
- Glaze and caulk as necessary.
- Replace building envelope and sidewalk sealants.
Equipment Used:
Nail gun, air compressor, caulking gun, torch, Leister heater, hand tools, power washer, other power equipment, measuring devices, and light truck or van.
Working Conditions:
Frequent walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching, heavy lifting and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions; outside and inside; on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, ladders, and scaffolding; and around machinery with moving parts. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, excessive noises, fumes, and toxic chemicals. Frequent districtwide travel.
