What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer PALS - KSAT Teacher Assistant position at Katy Independent School District?
Reports To: Various Supervisors
Duty Days: 19
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt/$10.00/hour
Funding Source: Title III - ELA
Qualifications:
Must be a student in Katy ISD
Must be 16 years of age by date of hire
Ability to follow instructions (written or oral)
Ability to comprehend verbal and written English
Ability to work collaboratively with others
Demonstrate decision-making and problem-solving skills
Must be self-motivated, accountable and dependable for the job task
Must be safety conscious and should have a conviction for any safety concerns
Ability to maintain emotional stability
Primary Purpose:
Assist summer school classroom teacher(s) of ESL/bilingual students during the Katy Summer Academic Term.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in in-service training day offered by Katy ISD.
- Work with ESL and/or bilingual students in Pre-K, Kindergarten and grade 5 in classroom and individual settings.
- Monitor students in the classroom, cafeteria and bus lines.
Equipment Used:
Personal computer, printer and copier.
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, carrying, lifting and reaching. Work around moving objects and vehicles. Work inside and outside. Exposure to high temperatures and humid conditions.
