Pay Grade: Teacher Hiring Schedule
Qualifcations:
Bachelor’s degree in related ?eld
Valid Texas certi?cate in the ?eld of visually impaired Ability to work e?ectively with school and community
Experience in providing instruction to students with visual impairments Valid driver’s license
Primary Purpose:
Provide instructional services to meet the needs of eligible students identi?ed as students with a visual impairment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: In addition to teacher job description.
- Adhere to local, state and federal guidelines in the delivery of services to hearing impaired students.
- Assist in appropriate areas of assessment and
- Assist in interpretation of
- Develop educational programs for eligible visually impaired
- Complete required local, state and federal forms for visually impaired
- Assist in general education and/or special education classes when
- Communicate regularly with general education, special education and parents/guardians regarding student progress/needs/concerns.
- Assist other school personnel in e?ectively meeting the needs of visually impaired
- Report progress on IEP goals/objectives and grades as stipulated by district policy and ARD documents.
- Prepare appropriate paperwork and attend ARD-IEP meetings for students with visual impairments.
- Assist in maintaining audit folders of visually impaired
- Keep current in the ?eld of visual impairments and be willing to attend appropriate workshops and trainings.
- Maintain a record of district travel and complete appropriate forms and documentation within timeline.
Equipment Used:
Personal computer, copier, printer, and fax machine. Adaptive equipment.
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. May be required to lift and position students with physical
disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint; and assist non-ambulatory students. Exposure to biological hazards. Daily driving in the district from one campus to another.
