What are the responsibilities and job description for the MA Senior General Maintenance position at Katy ISD?
Reports To: Maintenance Area Supervisor
Duty Days: 260 Days
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Grade: A05
Qualifications:
Texas Operator’s License
Possess knowledge and ability to perform in a variety of trades
Physically able to lift 50 pounds
Ability to follow instructions (written and oral)
Ability to interpret plans; show drawings and specifications
Ability to comprehend English (written and oral)
Primary Purpose:
Help maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assume responsibility to make minor repairs of any nature in the facilities owned and operated by the district including electrical, plumbing, painting and/or general maintenance.
- Perform repair and/or new work as requested on approved work order request.
- Recognize when a specialized trade is needed to solve problems.
- Examine district-owned facilities on a regular basis.
- Take all safety precautions related to all trades and reports to Maintenance Supervisor any hazardous situations.
- Assume responsibility of crew in Supervisor’s absence.
- May be required to work nights, evenings and weekends, if needed.
- Efficiently use School Dude work order program on a daily basis.
- Communicate effectively with campus staff and administration.
Equipment Used:
Power tools (drill, saw, etc…), hand tools, welder (gas and electric air), concrete mixer, ladder, lift, and computer, Tractor with loader, and light truck or van.
Working Conditions:
Continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and odors. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards. Work around moving objects or vehicles.
