Valid Texas certificate in appropriate area
Ability to work effectively between the school and community
Effective written & verbal communication skills
CPI Certificate, once employed
The mission of this role :
Provides special education consultation and instruction to meet the need of eligible students with disabilities. Communicate with campus staff, district special education staff, and parents / guardians information pertaining to student needs (such as but not exclusively : ARD paperwork, IEP's, BIP' and general progress)

- Prepare documents and attend ARD / IEP meetings for students eligible for special education.
- Complete local, state and federal paperwork required for program participation
- Develop instructional programs for eligible students to achieve mastery of the essential knowledge and skills.
- Collaborate with regular education teachers and related service staff to develop PLAAFP and annual goals / objectives for IEPs and to assist in providing an appropriate education for eligible students.
- Administer criterion referenced testing.
- Keep current and be willing to apply the state of the art educational practices.
- Oversee the responsibilities of the paraprofessional in implementing student programs, to include training in regards to data collection and implementation of specific instructional strategies.
- Collect & maintain data related to student progress and grades.
- Report progress on IEP goals / objectives and grades as stipulated by district policy & ARD documents.
- Provide appropriate behavior management techniques for eligible students
- Complete State Assessment requirements for eligible students
- Communicate regularly w general education and parents / guardians regarding student progress / needs / concerns.
- Maintain confidential student records & audit folders.
- Attend district required and job specific trainings & staff development (i.e., training on Autism, content specific trainings, structured settings, etc.).
- Other SHARS Duties as assigned.
- Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.
Equipment Used :
Personal computer, copier, printer, calculator, laminator. Adaptive equipment - Wheelchair, wheelchair lifts, wheelchair restraints, ramps, locks, electric changing table, Hoyer lift, various physical therapy equipment, assistive technology including voice output devices, and technology teaching tools (i.e., SMART Board).
