Job Summary
The Activities Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities and programs that enhance the quality of life for residents in a senior living community. The Activities Director will work closely with residents, families, and staff to create a vibrant community atmosphere that promotes social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical well-being.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program tailored to the interests and needs of residents.
- Facilitate social, recreational, and therapeutic activities that promote engagement among residents.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure activities are suitable for residents with varying levels of cognitive and physical abilities.
- Communicate effectively with residents and their families to gather feedback and encourage participation in activities.
- Manage schedules for activities, ensuring that programs are well-organized and accessible to all residents.
- Provide support and guidance to caregivers involved in activity planning and execution.
- Monitor resident participation in activities and assess their effectiveness in enhancing quality of life.
- Maintain documentation related to activity participation and resident feedback.
Qualifications
- Experience in social work or a related field is preferred; background in nursing home or assisted living environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dementia care, memory care practices, and senior care principles.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with seniors and their families.
- A passion for caregiving and enhancing the lives of seniors through meaningful engagement.
