Kauai Air Conditioning & Plumbing, a local mechanical contractor, is looking for a hard-working and motivated individual to join their team as an HVAC Department Manager.

Candidates must have outstanding interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, be detailed oriented, computer literate, and possess problem-solving skills.

The primary function of the HVAC Department Manager is to oversee the daily operations of an effective HVAC Department while striving to grow the department through improving margins, increasing revenue, reducing costs, and delivering on customer satisfaction.

Job Functions

Full responsibility for the HVAC Department; Installations, Construction, Service.
Work closely with the Comfort Advisors to improve the sales / operations relationship and build long-term relationships with key contacts at target customers.
Develop and track departmental KPI's that support overall team growth, safety, quality, and profitability.
Manage team budget and overhead accounts.
Work with warehouse team to identify opportunities to improve flow, determine minimum quantity levels, and improve material costs.
Work with Installations Foreman to maintain optimum team staffing levels through labor forecasting, planning, and management.
Overall responsibility for departmental recruiting, hiring, training, and retaining team staff.
Perform frequent jobsite visits with Installations Foreman to ensure customer satisfaction, workmanship, overall quality assurance, and safety.
Follow-up on any required warranty work and maintain contact with owner to ensure customer satisfaction.
Manage departmental dispatch schedule and customer invoicing.
Communicate clear performance expectations and conduct performance reviews for direct reports.
Approve departmental time sheets and perform all other necessary management tasks related to people management.
Take responsibility for safety performance and program compliance.
Any additional duties / responsibilities deemed necessary.

Job Qualifications

High school Diploma or equivalent required.

Ability to work under constraints and to make the most out of allotted resources.

Good organizational and time management skills to handle multiple issues.

Able to participate in customer relation issues and find solutions to solve customer disputes.

Understands the necessity of maximizing the productivity of the construction and technical workforce.

Understand the importance of handling sensitive and confidential information and documents.

General knowledge of HVAC / R is a plus.

Project Management experience is a plus.

Supervisory or management experience is a plus.

Good communication skills.

Good computer skills, (i.e., MS Word, Excel, and Project).
