Key Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance duties for a variety of projects, which include, but are not limited to:
- Drilling and installing portals into stainless steel animal kennels
- Removing and installing ventilation systems
- Replacing motors for equipment within the facility, including machines for pet cremation and laundry
- Efficiently interpret blueprints to manage installations of critical systems like sewage management and water supply
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations, ensuring fire extinguishers and first aid kits are serviced and adequately stocked
- Implement preventive maintenance schedules to extend the lifespan of shelter components
- Assess building structures to identify necessary repairs or renovations
- Ensure the well water system is adequately treated for safe animal consumption
- Oversee waste management and recycling efforts
- Maintain KHS vehicles through timely servicing
- Respond to urgent maintenance situations, including during weekends and holidays
- Undertake additional responsibilities as needed
- Fundamental to intermediate knowledge across electrical, mechanical, construction, landscaping, and plumbing disciplines
- Proficient in reading blueprints
- Strong reliability and meticulous attention to detail
- Comfort and respect while working around dogs and cats of varying sizes
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid Hawaii Driver's license or a valid out-of-state license with a clean driving record for at least one year prior to application
- Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in maintenance roles
