JOB OVERVIEW
The Mascot is responsible for interacting with fans, participating in game-day activities, and representing the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels at various events. You’ll be the center of attention during games, fan events, and community outreach activities, all while entertaining and energizing crowds.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Perform at home games, playoff games, promotional events and community outreach activities as needed.
- Interact with fans of all ages, posing for photos, signing autographs, and engaging with crowds.
- Always remain in character while in the mascot costume exhibiting enthusiasm and high energy.
- Assist the promotional teams to execute on-field promotions during games.
- Represent the team in a professional and enthusiastic manner at all times
- Ensure the mascot costume is properly maintained and in good condition
- Contributing to a safe and secure work environment for coworkers/patrons
- Exemplify the core characteristics of a strong culture, including strong interpersonal skills, prompt and professional follow-through, and an openness to new ideas and suggestions.
Qualifications:
- A high-energy, positive attitude with a passion for entertaining others.
- Comfort and enthusiasm for performing in front of large crowds and engaging with fans.
- Ability to stay in character and interact non-verbally with fans.
- Strong communication skills, especially in non-verbal communication.
- Physical stamina to perform and interact in the mascot costume for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Previous experience in performing, mascot work, or public speaking is a plus, but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in a full-body costume, often in warm conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform energetic activities for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds of mascot equipment and accessories.
