Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Decision Science needs of KMRF
- Develop and implement statistical models to support loan origination and risk assessment.
- Assist Chief Risk Officer in developing and refining Credit and Lending strategies
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights to improve business results.
- Utilize advanced statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to build predictive models.
- Build, Deploy and Maintain Credit Decisioning logic in a Decision Engine
- Recommend optional level of automation strategies that balance risk and efficiency.
- Utilize Loan Origination Systems (LOS) to process and manage funding transactions
- Validate and test models to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Preprocess, augment, and clean large datasets for building predictive models
- Collaborate with underwriting and risk management teams to integrate models into loan origination processes.
- Interact with Senior Management to make recommendations on credit strategies
- Monitor model performance and make necessary adjustments to improve accuracy and effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain Loss forecasting models and Allowance for Loan Loss Reserve methodologies
- Administer Decision Systems of KMRF
- Prepare and present detailed reports and visualizations to communicate model findings and recommendations to senior management.
- Work with multimodal datasets to derive insights and train hybrid models combining visual and textual data
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and advancements in statistical modeling and machine learning; identify opportunities to incorporate them in KMRF’s Decision Logics
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product managers, and domain experts
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge-sharing sessions
- All other job duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, or related field.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in statistical modeling, data analysis, or related roles.
- Strong proficiency in statistical software and programming languages (e.g., R, Python, SAS).
- Experience with machine learning algorithms and techniques.
- Advanced knowledge of financial services regulations together with all internal policies and procedures
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
- Proficiency in understanding various loan structures, payment schedules, amortizations, and interest rates
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and MLOps tools for model deployment
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven experience influencing strategy and driving change across org boundaries through clear and compelling communication of data-driven insights and analyses
- Ability to work on-site at our Foothill Ranch, CA office.
- Intellectual curiosity, drive, and decisiveness with ambiguous and complex environments
- Familiarity with financial services and loan origination processes is preferred.
Profile Differentiators:
- Experience in founding, co-founding or working in a fast-paced startup environment
- Experience in Powersports Finance Industry (motorcycle, ATVs UTVs, PWCs)
- Experience in a FinTech startup
- Prior experience in managing a team of Data Scientists and Risk Analysts
- Master’s degree or Advanced Professional degree
Salary Range:
$130,000 - $170,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
