What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trade Compliance Analyst position at Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A.?
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Respond to transactional inquiries from customs brokers for products which require additional information to be cleared for importation.
- Responsible for day-to-day compliance issues that delay the clearance of goods and anticipating problems and resolving the situations.
- Build processes to minimize clearance delays.
- Responsible for the correct classifications of our products in accordance with the Harmonized Tariff System and reginal export regulations.
- Conduct internal audits to determine import and export compliance performance; and support external audit activities as needed.
- Interpret global trade compliance regulations.
- Maintain manuals to comply with global trade compliance requirements.
- Research and support various trade compliance projects and process improvement initiatives in the areas of Customs Valuation, Customs Broker Management, Record Keeping, Denied Party Screening, Country of Origin amongst others.
- Identify areas for process improvements and develop metrics and reports to gauge success.
- Participate in 3rd party service provider reviews and evaluations.
- Maintains current knowledge of import/export compliance by attending appropriate seminars and/or compliance training.
- Other duties, as assigned by management.
Education and Experience:
A bachelor’s degree is preferred, or minimum 4 years related experience and/or training in Customs brokerage environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications:

- Must be self-motivated and have a working knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States and Customs Regulations (Chapter 19, Code of Federal Regulations.
- Customs Broker’s license and/or completion of Customs broker licensing course preferred.
- Preferred but not required to be a Certified Custom Specialist.
- Solid knowledge and experience working with Microsoft's Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access software.
