What are the responsibilities and job description for the Risk Group Manager position at Kawasaki Motors Retail Finance?
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and maintain KMRF’s Risk Management Framework
- Assist VP-Risk or Chief Risk Officer in developing and refining Credit Risk strategies and initiatives.
- Analyze and assess risk factors associated with loan origination and financial operations.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Finance and Planning Analysts, underwriters, funders, sales & marketing teams, and domain experts.
- Collaborate with the statistical modeler to develop and refine risk models.
- Work closely with underwriters to implement risk mitigation strategies and ensure effective risk management.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of risk models and make necessary adjustments.
- Interact with administrators of Decision Systems of KMRF to implement credit policies and Risk controls.
- Prepare detailed risk assessment reports and present findings to senior management.
- Provide data-driven insights that inform strategic decisions and drive business growth.
- Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis to evaluate potential impacts on the company’s financial health.
- Recommend optimal level of automation strategies that balance risk and efficiency.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in risk management.
- Utilize Loan Origination Systems (LOS) to process and manage funding transactions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Provide recommendations for improving risk management processes and enhancing overall risk awareness within the company.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for executive management and the Board, analyzing lending trends and market conditions.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and internal policies.
- Collaborate closely with Legal and Compliance teams to maintain high standards and stay abreast of regulatory changes and industry best practices.
- All other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, Statistics, or related field.
- Minimum of 7-9 years of experience in risk analysis, financial analysis, or related roles.
- First-hand experience in developing credit policies and risk management controls.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in statistical software and risk management tools (e.g., R, Python, SAS).
- Experience with data analysis and financial modeling.
- Familiarity with cloud-based Loan Origination and Decision platforms
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Proven experience influencing strategy and driving change across org boundaries through clear and compelling communication of data-driven insights and analyses
- Ability to work on-site at our Foothill Ranch, CA office.
- Intellectual curiosity, drive, and decisiveness with ambiguous and complex environments
- Familiarity with financial services and loan origination processes is preferred.
Profile Differentiators:
- Experience in founding, co-founding or working in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Experience in Powersports Finance Industry (motorcycle, ATVs UTVs, PWCs)
- Experience in a FinTech startup.
- Prior experience in managing a team of Data Scientists and Risk Analysts
- Master’s degree or Advanced Professional degree
Salary Range:
$120,000 - $140,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
