Assists the Head Teacher in providing a quality care program to the children and families. Leads classroom in Head Teacher's absence.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required: 12 units of Child Development (CD)/Early Childhood Education (ECE) courses: Education in progress can be considered if applicable (must be enrolled in the current semester)
Preferred: Children's Center Permit or Associate's degree
Experience
Required: Six months experience working with children in a group setting
Testing
Must be registered with CA Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division. This includes a background check, valid California Driver's License/California State I.D card, Live Scan fingerprints and fees provided by Kaweah Health.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential
Supervises classroom of toddler/preschool or infant age children. Plans and implements age-appropriate curriculum. Provides a quality learning experience for the children. Provides leadership within the classroom setting.
Maintains a safe environment for the children. Records and reports to parents/guardian and the Director/Assistant Director when accidents occur. Maintains a clean and inviting environment, while preventing unsafe situations for the children.
Serves meals to the children while modeling good eating habits. Assist in meal service and clean up. Records all food allergies and records meals on CSNFP forms.
Performs general hygiene tasks necessary to maintain a clean environment. Assists with diaper changing or bathroom tasks. Models good hygiene practices by washing hands. Teaches children how to care for their own hygiene responsibilities. Sanitizes diapering areas, toys and surfaces when necessary.
Attends staff and classroom meetings and special events. Attends and contributes to classroom planning and becomes involved in curriculum planning. Helps contribute to planning of events or other related activities.
Uses positive guidance techniques when directing children. Able to anticipate potential problems and react by encouraging appropriate behavior.
Additional
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Pay Range
$18.47 -$27.71
