Cutting Master

The Cutting Master is responsible for supervising and coordinating all cutting operations in the production department. This includes ensuring the cutting of fabrics or materials is done according to the required patterns and specifications while maintaining quality standards, optimizing material usage, and ensuring timely delivery of cut pieces.

Key Responsibilities :

1.    Cutting Operations Supervision :

o     Oversee the cutting of fabrics or other materials based on patterns and design specifications.

o     Ensure the use of appropriate cutting techniques (manual or machine) to meet production requirements.

o     Supervise and guide cutting staff to ensure optimal performance and quality.

2.    Material Management :

o     Inspect fabric or material rolls to ensure they meet quality standards before cutting.

o     Ensure that the correct quantities of fabric are cut according to the required sizes and specifications.

o     Minimize fabric wastage by optimizing the cutting process and layout planning.

3.    Quality Control :

o     Monitor and inspect cut pieces to ensure they conform to design and quality standards.

o     Address any issues related to the accuracy of cutting, such as pattern misalignment or defects in materials.

o     Ensure proper handling of all cut fabrics to prevent damage or distortion.

4.    Team Management :

o     Supervise the cutting team, providing training, guidance, and motivation.

o     Assign tasks to staff based on skill and workload.

o     Conduct regular performance reviews and ensure the team follows health and safety regulations.

5.    Machine & Equipment Management :

o     Ensure all cutting equipment (manual or machine-based) is properly maintained and in good working condition.

o     Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance on cutting machines to minimize downtime.

o     Report any major equipment malfunctions to the maintenance team.

6.    Production Planning and Coordination :

o     Coordinate with production and design teams to ensure the cutting process aligns with overall production schedules.

o     Ensure that cutting is completed on time and that materials are available for subsequent production processes (such as stitching or assembling).

o     Keep track of materials used, work progress, and ensure all deadlines are met.

7.    Inventory Control :

o     Maintain accurate records of material usage, and ensure the proper storage of cut pieces.

o     Monitor fabric and material inventories and coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely replenishment of stock.

8.    Safety and Compliance :

o     Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.

o     Promote safe work practices within the cutting department, ensuring staff uses the correct safety equipment and procedures.

o     Ensure that cutting areas are kept clean, organized, and free of hazards.

9.    Troubleshooting :

o     Address any issues related to the cutting process, including fabric defects, machine malfunctions, or alignment problems.

o     Collaborate with the production and quality control teams to solve problems promptly and efficiently.

Requirements

Key Skills and Qualifications :

• Educational Requirements : A high school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in textile technology, fashion design, or a related field is a plus.
• Experience : At least 3-5 years of experience in a cutting or production role, preferably in the textile, garment, or manufacturing industry.
• Skills :
• Strong knowledge of cutting techniques, tools, and equipment.
• Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret patterns, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of inventory management and material handling.
• Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
