Summary:
Provides assistance to the Physicians and patients with needed responsibilities on a daily basis.
Duties and Responsibilities
Schedule and maintain provider surgical scheduler as directed by physician
Order homecare therapy for outpatient procedures and schedule surgical planning MRIs and CT scans
Scan all patient referrals and scripts to other facilities.
Apply various insurance plans including Medicare.
Ensure proper placement of insurance information in charts.
Contact patients via telephone to schedule pre-operative and/or post-operative appointments.
Ensure patients are completely informed regarding surgical procedures.
Prepare surgical paperwork promptly and ensure paperwork is submitted timely to appropriate individuals and institutions as required.
Ensure patients are scheduled at appropriate facilities based on their age, insurance, health.
Work directly with precertification specialists and patient care coordinators.
Identify and code surgical procedures.
Handle high call volume.
Develop good rapport with facilities and all representatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
HS diploma or equivalent.
Must have two - three years experience in Orthopedic surgical scheduling or five years for other specialties.
