Job Title: Data Storyteller / Visual Storyteller with Azure

Job Description:

We are looking for a talented Data Storyteller / Visual Storyteller with strong expertise in data analytics and visualization using Azure to join our team at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). In this role, you will transform complex datasets into compelling narratives that guide decision-making and operational improvements. This position requires a blend of creative and technical skills to interpret data, communicate insights effectively, and influence key stakeholders through visualization and storytelling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and translate business goals into data-driven stories.
• Build engaging and impactful data visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, and Azure Data Explorer to present findings to a broad audience, including executives, airport operations, and partners.
• Use storytelling techniques to weave data insights into actionable narratives that clearly communicate trends, patterns, and opportunities within airport operations.
• Create dashboards, interactive reports, and other visual tools that help stakeholders interpret and act on real-time data insights.
• Use data modeling techniques to interpret large and complex datasets, identifying key trends and actionable insights.
• Support the development of data pipelines and Azure cloud-based analytics solutions to ensure timely and accurate data is available for storytelling and visualization purposes.
• Lead workshops and presentations to train internal teams on the use of data visualization tools and how to effectively tell stories with data.
• Collaborate closely with data engineers and business analysts to ensure visualizations are accurate, meaningful, and aligned with strategic objectives.
• Conduct data validation and quality assurance to ensure the accuracy and integrity of all reports and visualizations.
• Implement automation of reporting processes and build scalable solutions to drive efficiencies in data storytelling.
  
  

Required Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a related field.
• 3 years of experience in data storytelling, data visualization, or business intelligence roles, with a focus on using data to influence business decisions.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Power BI, Azure Data Explorer, Azure Data Factory, and other Azure cloud analytics services.
• Expertise in creating compelling and interactive data visualizations that effectively communicate complex information.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation and analysis.
• Proven ability to transform data into impactful stories and deliver presentations to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Machine Learning, and Azure Databricks is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and explain data-driven insights to a non-technical audience.
• Familiarity with airport operations or logistics data is a plus.
