GIS Specialist
Key Responsibilities
- Cloud Migration Planning:
- Assess the current GIS system architecture and design a detailed migration strategy to a managed cloud solution.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks to minimize operational disruptions during the migration.
- GIS System Migration:
- Migrate GIS hosted services from POLA s on-premises infrastructure to the selected cloud environment.
- Ensure compatibility and performance optimization in the new cloud setup.
- System Expansion:
- Broaden the GIS system's reach to external stakeholders while maintaining security and compliance standards.
- Implement scalable and future-ready solutions to support POLA s operational needs.
- Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work closely with POLA s Information Technology Division (ITD) to align the migration plan with organizational objectives.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors and stakeholders to ensure seamless implementation.
- Testing and Validation:
- Conduct thorough testing to validate system functionality and performance post-migration.
- Address any issues promptly to ensure a smooth transition.
- Documentation and Training:
- Provide detailed documentation of the new system architecture, processes, and best practices.
- Train ITD staff to manage and maintain the migrated GIS system.
- Experience:
- Proven track record in migrating enterprise GIS architecture and on-premises services to cloud platforms.
- Expertise in managing large-scale GIS systems and cloud migration projects with minimal operational disruption.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of GIS platforms (e.g., Esri ArcGIS) and managed cloud solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Proficiency in system integration, data migration, and cloud security protocols.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
