SUMMARY:
The Deputy Finance Director works under the direction of the Finance and Administrative Services Director. In coordination with the Finance and Administrative Services Director, this position is responsible for the overall accounting and accuracy of the City's financial records.
Considerable knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures; extensive knowledge of computer operations, including proficiency with general ledger software, spreadsheets, and word processing.
- A current CPFO (Certified Public Finance Officer), CGFM (Certified Government Financial Manager), or CPA is highly desired.
- Preference is given to those with experience in the use of Caselle government accounting software.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from college with a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field AND
- Three (3) years of experience in accounting, preferably in a governmental setting OR
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures; extensive knowledge of computer operations, including proficiency with general ledger software, spreadsheets, and word processing. General knowledge of State and Federal laws relating to fiscal recordkeeping and knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques in financial management.
Skills in planning, organizing, and analysis.
Ability to plan and coordinate work programs; ability to work and manage several technical and administrative tasks by exercising initiative and judgment; ability to establish and maintain working relationships with employees, other city officials, and the general public.
Ability to effectively communicate via email, telephone, or personal interaction with employees and the general public.
Special Qualifications:
- CurrentCPFO(CertifiedPublicFinanceOfficer), CGFM (Certified Government Financial Manager), or CPA is highly desired.
- Must be bondable.
- Preference is given to those with experience in the use of Caselle government accounting software.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Utah Driver's License and be deemed insurable and able to operate city-owned equipment and vehicles.
